Common Problems
There are a number of common problems, called malocclusions, which we see in our patients. Thankfully, we have years of experience treating them all:
Upper Front Teeth Protrusion
This occurs when the upper teeth extend to far forward over the lower teeth and can impact the function and aesthetics of your bite.
Overbite
This is when the top teeth extend out over the lower teeth. In more severe cases, it can cause the bottom teeth to bite into the roof of the mouth.
Crossbite
This happens when the upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth and can cause tooth stratification and poor jaw growth.
Openbite
An open bite is characterized by a space between the top and bottom front teeth. This can create and reinforce unwanted habits like tongue thrusting. The top and bottom front teeth do not overlap. This can create unwanted habits like tongue thrusting.
Other Problems
Crowding
One of the most common orthodontic issues, crowding is when teeth don't have enough room to erupt from the gums. Usually we can correct crowding with an expander, making surgery or tooth removal unnecessary.
Spacing
Sometimes caused by missing teeth, spacing issues may be either a cosmetic or functional issue.
Dental midlines not matched
This happens when the back bite fits together improperly, which can impair jaw growth, smile aesthetics, and bite functionality.
